Web Therapy isn’t taking any more appointments as Showtime cancels Lisa Kudrow
While Web Therapy won’t continue on Showtime, Kudrow and company could certainly bring the low-budget series back for more installments at some time in the future.
The cable executives attended a press conference at the Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday, and when asked about the possibility of a fifth season of Kudrow’s improvised programme, Showtime president David Nevins replied, “No, that’s done”.
Web Therapy isn’t taking any more appointments, now that Showtime has canceled the comedy.
Lisa Kudrow earned critical praise for her portrayal of Fiona Wallice, a therapist who treated her patients through three-minute web chat sessions. The show was originally an online program prior to Showtime ordered it to a series in 2010 and starred former “Scandal” star Dan Bucatinsky, Victor Garber and Lily Tomlin in recurring roles.
Conan O’Brien, Billy Crystal, Jon Hamm, Gwyneth Paltrow, Molly Shannon, Steve Carell, Jane Lynch and Kudrow’s “Friends” alums Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc were among the series’ guest stars.
During the TCA panel we also learned that Showtime has picked up a comedy pilot from Jim Carrey, and has renewed Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex.
