Wedding Video Shows Jewish Extremists Celebrating the Death of Palestinian Baby

A Palestinian stabbed two security guards in the industrial area near the West Bank settlement of Ariel in the morning hours. Israeli fire has killed 124 Palestinians, 85 of them said by Israel to be attackers while the rest were killed in clashes with Israeli forces. She said police shot both assailants, who later were identified as Palestinians in their early 20s from the West Bank.

On Wednesday at the main tourist entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City, an Israeli was stabbed to death and another killed, seemingly by a stray police bullet as officers shot dead the two Palestinian assailants. The second victim was shot by accident by Israeli security forces aiming at the attackers.

“Paramilitary border policewomen saw terrorists armed with knives stabbing a man”, Israeli police spokeswoman Luba Samri said.

In Manger Square, local activists placed an olive tree they said was uprooted by the Israeli army in a nearby village, and surrounded it with barbed wire and decorated it with spent tear gas canisters fired by Israeli troops and photographs of Palestinians killed or arrested in recent violence.

In other locations in the West Bank, another Palestinian was shot dead while trying to stab a soldier with a screwdriver, and a third after injuring a soldier in a car-ramming, the army said. At least 130 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since October, and more than 20 Israelis were killed by Palestinians during the same period, according to the Palestinian news agency Maan.

Israel says the violence is fanned by a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement. But the Palestinians say it’s the result of a lack of hope from almost 50 years of Israeli occupation. As Newsweek put it in 2008, “the details of Kuntar’s attack are so sickening that they give pause even to some of Israel’s enemies”.

The video, broadcast by an Israeli news programme, has spread online and drawn strong condemnation from Israeli politicians including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

On Tuesday, Palestinians gathered in Ramallah to honor Samir Kuntar, a member of the Palestine Liberation Front who infamously murdered an Israeli father in front of his four-year-old daughter, then smashed her head in against a rock.

A jarring video that aired this week on Israeli TV showing extremist Jews brandishing rifles and knives during a frenzied wedding party – some stabbing photos of the slain Palestinian toddler – has ratcheted up criticism that authorities have treated rogue Israelis with kid gloves for too long. “This is the birthplace of the king of peace so what we want is peace”, said Rula Maayah, the Palestinian Tourism Minister.

Channel 10 reported that the wedding where the video was taken was of a couple “known very well in the extreme right wing”, adding that among the friends of the newlyweds were also friends of those arrested in connection with the arson attack.
