Weezer launches new lyric video for ‘Thank God for Girls’
Featuring an Amber Rose lookalike model feeding a guy an endless assortment of disgusting pastry treats in gloriously over the top fashion, the track itself is an ode to attractive girls and is as sonically punchy and direct as we’ve come to expect from the legendary pop punkers.
The group first premiered “Thank God for Girls” in Los Angeles at an iHeartRadio event, and now they’ve released the studio version of the track, along with a visual.
It still hasn’t yet been confirmed whether this new single will appear on a brand new upcoming album or not, but Weezer’s last and most excellent 2014 LP Everything Will Be Alright In The End should be enough to keep you content until further new music plans are announced by the band.
Cuomo shared his thoughts on the song in a Facebook post, calling the song better than Everything Will Be Alright in the End’s “Back to the Shack” and describing the lyrics as “pretty out there”. And Scott plays the keyboard on parts of it. I love the abrupt acapella ending, it showcases my voice. “Very unique, very different, a bit dark”, the tweets read. (I especially love the Adam lyric parts)… that last line is gold. “It’s a ideal mix of weezer past and future”, he wrote on Sunday night. I think the music is really great, I’m a huge fan of organs being used and piano in the verse. “Took me a while to warm up to it but it’s really awesome now”.
Weezer’s new single is available on iTunes and Spotify. The chorus soars on melodic wings.
