Wenger: Arsenal victor at Burnley ‘dodgy’
Burnley midfielder Barton revealed earlier this week that he held talks with the Gunners over a potential move in summer 2011.

Welbeck, signed from Manchester United in the summer of 2014, played for just four months a year ago after returning from a long lay-off before he was again forced to miss eight more months with a new issue.
Burnley’s Republic of Ireland global midfielder Jeff Hendrick speaking ahead of the game said, “We have nothing to lose”.
“We still rest him after two days, one day, because of bone inflammation”.
“I’ve never really spoken to him at length but that’s how it looks, and we’ve tried to do that here as a club”.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that defender Per Mertesacker will remain at the club for another season.
Arsenal host Burnley on Sunday knowing that the result will have as much impact on their Premier League top-four hopes as it will their title aspirations.
Other than signing full-back Cohen Bramall from non-league Hednesford, Arsenal have done no other business and Wenger admits he expects the remainder of the January transfer window to be “very quiet”.
Arsenal need to find a long-term replacement for the Spaniard but that is easier said than done, so securing Cazorla to a short-term deal whilst they find a longer solution is the right move.
