Wenger eyes Arsenal return for Welbeck
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that the club are looking forward to securing the three points in Sunday’s Premier League clash against leaders Leicester City at the Emirates.
While Wenger said the game at the Emirates will not decide the title race, he acknowledged that “it’s not far away from that”.
Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez also scored three minutes into the second half to give the Foxes a commanding 2-0 lead before Huth second goal made it 3-0 at the hour mark.
Of the absent trio only Cazorla holds a regular status within the first-team and would likely win his place back in Wenger’s starting line-up as soon as he is fully fit, which – according to Wenger’s latest comments – is a matter of weeks, rather than months.
And, with the game being played on Valentine’s Day, Wenger admits there is a hint of romanticism to the Foxes’ surge up the table after being rock bottom on their last visit to Arsenal.
“I don’t deny pressure”. This is the kind of game we want – the kind of game we relish.
Meanwhile, rumours that Jose Mourinho is to join Manchester United – and once again haunt both Wenger and Guardiola – refuse to go away.
Arsene Wenger: “Leicester are a strong side but we are also a strong side”. Fans are of the opinion that with so much money coming into the club, they should not be charged extra for matchday tickets. “Their belief has been strengthened”. “He is a provider and scores”.
With no continental tournaments to worry about and having already been knocked out of the Capital One Cup and the FA Cup, many believe a less congested run-in could see Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester complete a most remarkable title success. “He has done well where ever he has gone”. I’m not [sure]… You want people who live around the stadium to be capable to go and watch the games.
Goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain saw the Gunners get their title charge back on track on Sunday with a 2-0 win at Bournemouth, a result Wenger feels came at just the right time.
“Cazorla and Wilshere need four more weeks or so, but everyone else is there”.
That means it is Arsenal who must adapt their game, with Aaron Ramsey sitting alongside Francis Coquelin in midfield.
