Wenger: ‘Giroud is at the top of his game’
“Hopefully we can have a great game against Manchester City next Sunday”. We have eight days to prepare.
Then the other substitute Perez’s 93rd minute volley, that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris let squirm through his grasp, earned Newcastle their first back-to-back wins in the league for a year, taking them out of the relegation zone into 15th place, one above champions Chelsea.
“I knew the size of the challenge before coming”.
Giroud netted his 14th goal of the season and 50th in the league for the Gunners after Theo Walcott was brought down in the area by Alan Hutton.
“We believe we have an opportunity to win the title”, Ramsey told Sky Sports. He is questioned sometimes but finally the numbers are adding up and people are realising what a good player he is.
“Olivier has improved technically”. “When you play Arsenal and go behind within 10 minutes, it is very hard situation to cope with”. He may not have electric pace and he likes to play with his back to goal, so maybe he isn’t a spectacular individual.
Garde will be encouraged by his team’s second-half display, which show-cased far more effort and endeavour. “Mentally he is very strong”. Arsene Wenger was full of praise for the work that his former player Remi Garde has done in his brief time at Villa.
“Every year we have seen teams survive who everyone thought had no chance before Christmas”, Wenger said.
“But it is not completely a lost cause”.
Villa have now not won a game since the opening day of the season, when Rudy Gestede’s goal gave them a 1-0 victory at Bournemouth.
“Probably, we will have to win if we want to be safe”, said Garde, who recalled Jack Grealish to the squad after dropping him for two games for partying after a 4-0 defeat to Everton last month. We have to be ready to fight to win games. I had two poor seasons here, but those poor seasons were beating Arsenal from 2-0 down to go to the top of the league, playing in the UEFA Cup quarter-final against Atletico Madrid and going on a club-record run.
“I felt that the ref took a long time to make his decision but, to be fair, it was probably the right one”.
A raft of decisions by them, including most importantly spending £55million on 13 new players this summer, including many from overseas, looks disastrous.
Wenger’s side entertain Manchester City in their next Premier League outing, but the Frenchman is unsure if Alexis Sanchez will recover from a hamstring injury in time to feature.
