Wenger gives Sanchez ‘slight chance’ for Man City clash
The attacker of Arsenal has been left without depth given the injuries to Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck and Wenger is now keen on providing competition for Giroud. The Gunners will be buoyed by their 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the group stage, and Wenger added: “We have to be inspired by the Bayern result at home”. He has not returned to full training yet but with the game still four days away, Wenger did not rule him out of playing a part at the Emirates.
Arsenal and Manchester City remain the two favourites for the title although Monday’s clash can not be described as a title decider in the this insane season.
The Spanish midfielder underwent knee surgery after rupturing his lateral ligament in a game at the end of November, and has now suggested that he could be out for more than three months.
“We played against Barcelona with top teams, but were very inexperienced and very young”, he added. “I believe that it is normal that he wants to play”.
Arsenal failed sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window but they are now looking to bolster their thin squad this January. You can not ignore the individual quality they have up front.
“If you look at Real Madrid, there is always speculation”.
“Ozil is the main provider in the team and the league, 13 assists”.
“It’s very positive – they (Leicester) put in a fantastic performance on Monday night”.
Wenger is correct the game will by no means hand the victor the Premier League title, but it remains an important clash, and if one team comes out on top, it will certainly give them the initiative in the title race. He has become an absolutely unbelievable player.
