Wenger insists Perez and Mustafi are not panic buys
Everton are still hopeful of a deal but reports in Spain suggest Arsenal are strong favourites to sign the player.
He added: “The fact that he could go out on loan somewhere and play, yes”.
Arsene Wenger has admitted that this summer’s transfer window didn’t work out the way he had planned, but denied that his late deal for striker Lucas Perez was a panic buy.
According to El Confidencial, the London club are close to signing Spanish forward Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna.
Arsenal have already signed Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding, Takuma Asano and Kelechi Nwakali this summer and with these two more additions, it takes their spending to over £100m since the beginning of last season. “I’m 99 per cent confident”.
They have already signed Swiss global Granit Xhaka from Borussia Moenchengladbach and young pair Rob Holding and Takuma Asano.
Wenger’s situation was worsened as the Gunners lost their opening Premier League game 3-4 at home to Liverpool, before drawing 0-0 at Leicester City last weekend. Wenger said with a smile during his pre-Watford match press conference, as quoted by the Guardian.
“We are not capable in the end to maintain completely for 90 minutes exactly the same intensity physically, but overall it’s a very encouraging performance and a good win”. “No, I try to make the [right] decision”.
Wenger says he was anticipating an “easier” transfer market than ever this summer but admits he had to reassess his targets after missing out on his priorities earlier in the window. “Because not a lot has happened”. In recent weeks, many players have been linked with the club, yet it remains a mystery whether the manager, Arsene Wenger, will bring the reinforcement at the Emirates or not.
“It looks like when you meet other clubs and you have an English passport, you hit these [big] prices which are very hard to understand compared to the quality of the players”. I hope we will have done all our business before the last days of the window. “In the next two or three days everybody will find agreements”.
