Wenger savors `perfect week’ as Gunners fire
It’s OK having the confidence of the manager, who tells you you can do it and backs you up in the press, but at a few point the players have to go out there and perform and that’s what they’re doing.
Arsene Wenger has said he did not expect his Arsenal side to find themselves top of the Premier League table ten games into the season.
“There have been a lot of questions about our strikers but Walcott is outstanding and Giroud is outstanding at the moment too”.
Olivier Giroud says helping Arsenal win games when he’s on the pitch is more important than whether he’s a regular starter. “If we need a player to hold it up, we’ve got Giroud”. “We have to keep the concentration, the togetherness and the humility”.
Oh how the Arsenal fans used to dread a corner or a free kick that was not in a position for a shot.
“This year he woke up, he finally woke up and you have to give him his credit”, Henry said speaking on Sky Sports.
“We went to Watford and won 3-0 and beat Bayern Munich 2-0 and beat Everton tonight in one week, it has been a fantastic week”.
Everton pressed for the leveler, with Romelu Lukaku heading against the crossbar and Gerard Deulofeu denied late on by goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Title-rivals Manchester City managed to equal Arsenal on points with a draw against neighbours Manchester United, however Giroud was impressed by his side’s constant climb and is happy to play behind Walcott if this trend of results continue.
After the first game against West Ham United nobody would have predicted that.
“Ramiro Funes Mori has played in a Merseyside derby, he has played today and he has had a taste of the League Cup and I think he is getting close to understanding the British game”, said the Everton manager. “I thought it would take much longer because Manchester City started with five wins, so it was hard to envisage that we would come back but we had no choice”, he added.
It was an impressive performance from Giroud as he proved to be a menace to the Everton defence throughout the game with an all action performance, and Redknapp was impressed, saying he was the flawless number nine in the game.
