Were Trump’s Words To Macron’s Wife Sleazy?
President Donald Trump will be meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron (eh-mahn-yoo-EHL’ mah-KROHN’) as part of his visit to France for Bastille Day celebrations in Paris.
During the shake, the two leaders begin walking hand-in-hand in the direction of the cameras while their wives remain off to either side.
They talk for a few seconds with hands still clenched tight before Brigitte is brought into the equation.
Trump and Macron gripped each other Friday after watching the French National Day Parade with Macron’s wife, Brigitte, and Trump’s wife, Melania.
She kisses Trump, while he is still shaking her husband’s hand.
“You’re in such good shape”, Trump told the French First Lady.
After the two leaders met at the G7 summit in May, Macron described his first handshake with Trump as a way to “show he would not make small concessions”. Washington Post pool reporter Phillip Rucker reported seeing the mens’ knuckles turning white and their jaws clenching, focused more on the power struggle than friendship.
While frequently and publicly commenting on women’s looks may be par for the course for a man who runs beauty pageants, many Americans continue to express dismay that Trump has retained the habit as a leader representing the United States on the world stage.
‘It started with Macron holding his hand palm down. “Trump seems to just want his hand back”.
About eight seconds in, Trump appears to have adjusted his grip on Macron’s hand, shifting from a traditional handshake into more of an arm-wrestling grip. Thought that would be the low point of the France visit? Macron, a staunch advocate of research to combat global warming, has beckoned “all responsible citizens”, including American scientists and researchers, to bring their fight against climate change to France. He repeatedly and publicly shows us that he thinks women exist on this planet for the sole objective of his aesthetic judgement and pleasure.
Macron struck a similar note, stating that nothing can diminish his country’s relationship with the U.S.
The United States entered the war against the Central Powers of the German Empire, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria nearly three years after it started and participated for 19 months.
To applause, he added that “nothing will ever separate us”.
Trump came to his son’s defense Wednesday, praising Donald Trump Jr.’s performance in an interview on Fox News Channel. “And that is why I wish to thank them, thank the United States for the choice it made 100 years ago”.
