West Brom’s James McClean brands Jurgen Klopp an ‘idiot’ after Liverpool draw
Tony Pulis, the West Bromwich Albion manager, said that the Premier League’s superpowers needed to get used to “smaller clubs” standing up to them, after an acrimonious 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The Dortmund star has won two Bundesliga titles under the charismatic Liverpool manager, although he wasn’t part of the Dortmund side that reached the 2013 Champions League final.
Klopp admitted that his Liverpool side struggled to cope with West Brom’s willingness to defend in numbers and exploit set-piece situations but believes today’s draw could prove to be a turning point in the season.
The Croatia worldwide left Anfield on crutches and will have his leg examined on Monday after he was stretchered off in the 2-2 draw at Anfield and Klopp said: “We hope it is not too serious”.
However, Liverpool are ready to buck the trend of previous transfer windows by resisting the urge to make any new signings, but wait for the return of their injured players.
“I didn’t see him after the game, I can say nothing”, Klopp told the media after the game.
“Then to stay in the game, only a few seconds from disappointment, and to come back is a big moment in football”.
Lineker is a fan of the Liverpool boss and admits that Klopp has brought freshness to Liverpool this season and his attitude is such that the players are ready to give their all for the manager. “I have nothing negative to say about Simon”, he added. I don’t know what percentage of the goals we have conceded have been set-plays but it feels like 98 per cent or something.
“He (Gardner) played the ball, a millisecond before he hit Dejan”. “We showed great resilience and worked really hard and to get done with a deflected goal in injury time is really disappointing for the players”.
“Skrtel has gone right over the ball, luckily Salomon moved out of the way”.
“The players and the fans are obviously behind him, even though it is clear he will need better players to take Liverpool back to the top and maximise the team’s potential”.
