West Bromwich Albion boss apologises to fans for ‘disappointing’ performance
Graham Westley hopes his high-scoring Peterborough side will gain their just rewards for their attacking endeavours in tonight’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against West Bromwich Albion.
And in another warning to Berahino’s potential summer suitors Albion’s Director of Football Administration Richard Garlick has told their Fans Assembly – the equivalent of United’s Fans Forum – that the player will NOT lose value as he enters the final months of his contract.
It was a fresh worry for the Baggies as they struggled to make an impact against a brash Peterborough side. Albion have won only two of their past 12 matches in the league, with some supporters criticising Pulis for what they regard as unduly cautious tactics, a charge it is hard to argue with when Albion had failed to produce a shot on target in three of their past four matches.
McClean had a shot blocked minutes later before, from the resulting corner, James Chester miscued at the far post and his shot hit Fletcher. Shaquile Coulthirst curled one attempt narrowly wide early in the second half, and the opening goal duly arrived in the 55th-minute.
Albion had been sloppy all night and McClean’s wretched pass was intercepted by Angol, who found Taylor on the left.
Victories are tantalisingly close as Albion have only lost two of their last 10 games, so Foster is looking for the forwards to try and get a few more goals to pick up more three-point hauls.
Baggies’ goalkeeper Ben Foster was grateful his side edged through to a fifth-round meeting with Reading at the Madejski Stadium on 20 February, after his error in allowing Taylor’s shot to slip through his hands gifted Peterborough their opener.
Peterborough are 5/2 to knock West Brom (11/10) out of the FA Cup within 90 minutes, with a draw and extra-time a 12/5 chance while a penalty shoot-out is priced at 9/2. But Craig Gardner had a shot headed off the line by Gabriel Zakuani and Berahino missed an open goal with a header from a Gardner cross.

He said: “I’ve been with the club for over a year and that’s the most disappointing away performance we’ve had. And to win the game we’re going to have to get a lot right”. Their work rate and their energy and the way they played, it was a real cup tie.
