West Ham fan stabbed outside White Hart Lane before Tottenham game
So much for a goal drought.
Police confirmed a 35-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach an hour before the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham which was scheduled to kick off at 4pm on Sunday.
Bilic said the extent to which his team had been outplayed had come as a “shock” and he urged his players to shake the game out of their system in time for next week’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.
Harry Kane continued his hot scoring streak to inspire Tottenham to an emphatic win over West Ham.
“The performance matches the result”.
Tottenham were two up at half-time but it could have been more given they missed a number of early chances, including Kane scuffing wide when sent through one-on-one with Adrian.
“We are very strong as a team and there is a good atmosphere in the group”, Dembele added.
On the other side of the touchline, Mauricio Pochettino was urging his side onward, to press higher and higher.
Kane scored twice at White Hart Lane to take his tally to eight in his last five Spurs games.
“It was an unbelievable performance and I’ve only one word, “pride”, and that’s pride in the way we played”, Pochettino told TottenhamHotspur.com after the final whistle.
“You can feel from the touchline the players believe in the way we play”. Apart from the goals we conceded we played okay and I still had that belief we could get something from the game.
Heung-Min Son is set to come in for the suspended Erik Lamela, whilst Andros Townsend could return to the squad after his suspension for an altercation with the club’s fitness coach. Within five minutes, Spurs and Kane made it 3-0. A loose pass by Tomkins was easily intercepted by Eriksen who strode forward and slipped the ball to Kane who was able to shoot from the area’s edge.
Alderweireld has settled well at Spurs having joined the club from Atlético Madrid for £11.4m in July after a season on loan at Southampton, and scored his second goal for them in the weekend victory over West Ham.
Former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp says West Ham will drop back down to mid-table after a fast start to the season. They’re now in fifth place, two points behind North London rivals Arsenal, against whom they drew two weeks ago.
“It’s true that we show from the beginning of the season that we are consistent, but to aspire to try to win the title, maybe we need more”.
