West Ham lose appeal over Adrián’s red card against Leicester
West Ham goalkeeper Adrian will serve a three-match ban after an appeal against his dismissal in Saturday’s defeat to Leicester City was rejected by the Football Association (FA).
The 28-year-old was sent off in stoppage time at Upton Park for a high boot into the chest of Jamie Vardy, having come up for a corner with the hosts chasing a late equaliser.
West Ham United are considering a loan deal to sign Manchester United outcast Anders Lindegaard, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
West Ham have been on the lookout for another goalkeeper to rival Adrian for the No 1 shirt and Sky sources understand they will push to bring Green back to east London, where he spent six years with West Ham before moving to QPR in 2012.
The goalkeeper was dismissed for serious foul play during the game against Leicester City on Saturday (15 August 2015). “Therefore, the player’s three-match suspension, which is the standard penalty for this offence, remains with immediate effect”, the statement added.
It is thought summer signing Darren Randolph may get his chance to shine between the sticks if the Irons are unsuccessful in their challenge.
However, there may yet be competition in the form of ex-England goalkeeper Robert Green, who is reportedly close to returning to his former club from QPR.
