West Ham’s Andy Carroll to miss Blackburn FA Cup tie
Marshall left the Foxes to join Rovers two and a half years ago and has watched on in amazement at the achievements of his former club. He’s doing well and there’s talk of him getting an England call-up, so I wish him all the best and hopefully he can get a Premier League title next to his name. “It’s nice to watch them play and see them doing well”.
Gold wrote on Twitter: “Andy has a slight injury and will be rested for the game against Blackburn”. Paul Lambert’s side are progressing nicely in the FA Cup and Marshall tends to be the architect of opening the score in key matches.
Marshall is one of the players trying to ensure Blackburn do not miss prolific marksman Jordan Rhodes, who joined Middlesbrough on deadline day.
“Add to that West Ham’s 11-match unbeaten run against Rovers and it’s hard to make a case for an upset – that said, it is the FA Cup….”
In the league West Ham are seventh and only one point behind Manchester United in fifth, but last weekend they had to come from two goals down to salvage a point at Norwich City.
“Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia are both out but [Manuel] Lanzini is back”, Bilic said.
“Darren Randolph will start, he has done brilliantly every time he’s played”. He is doing the same thing he does when he is playing for Ireland. “They are direct which is very unsafe so it’ll be a big test for us”.
West Ham defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the fourth-round replay after initially holding Jurgen Klopp’s side to a scoreless draw at Anfield and are now seventh in the Premier League table. “We all travelled to London but unfortunately I didn’t play”.
“We’ve got good players in the squad who can play at that level and it’s a free game for us”, Duffy told the Lancashire Telegraph. It’s a very hard game for us.
With Diafra Sakho still sidelined due to a thigh injury and Nikica Jelavic completing his move to Chinese second division side Beijing Renhe earlier this week, Bilic may have to throw January signing Emmanuel Emenike in for his full debut up front.
Bilic says he has no option to rotate with James Tomkins and Joey O’Brien also crocked and Sam Byram cup-tied.
