West NY man legally changes name to Darth Vader
Vader legally changed his name a year ago to match the “Star Wars” villain, the Democrat and Chronicle reported.
Vader can take comfort in the fact that he is not alone in struggling to prove that his legal name was inspired by a franchise so powerful that it feels like half of Earth has already seen the new Star Wars movie.
Vader is waiting on a bone marrow transplant and has a GoFundMe page set up.
As for his name choice, Vader says the Dark Side drew him in with their “better weapons, better vehicles”.
For 42 years, fitness instructor and gym owner Eric Welch led a tough life. His partner in politics was none other than Chewbacca, who was violently beaten and arrested while taking Ukrainian Darth to the polls in October 2015. Some wiseguys call him Lord Vader, but most people simply call him Eric.
Vader has undergone 15 sessions of chemotherapy and is now on the list for a bone marrow transplant at Seattle’s VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
Vader told the D&C that the name change wasn’t hard, but he did have to sign documents promising not to use the Force for evil character’s likeness for his own profit. “Got to love Darth Vader”.
“It keeps my mind off doctor’s appointments, of all that I’ve gone through, am going through and will continue to go through”, Vader says of training for races.
Berlin’s Church of Zion filled its pews with a Star Wars theme yesterday, with hundreds of churchgoers turning up in appropriate fancy dress.
‘It doesn’t end, ‘ he said. “But for something like this, I’ll go”, he said.
Plus, I’m sure he gets weird looks every-time he’s carded.
