West Roxbury man dies after being pulled from South Boston waters
Gone Baby Gone actor Sean Malone died after a drowning accident put him into a coma, the Boston Fire Department confirms.
The Boston Fire Department tweeted Wednesday evening that “his family would like to thank the dedicated staff at BMC, Boston EMS, those that rescued Sean and friends for their support”.
Malone, who appeared in Gone Baby Gone and The Fighter, was surrounded by his loved ones including his son and parents.
Malone was swimming at the Curley Community Center when off-duty firefighters noticed he got to the halfway point between the JFK Library and the beach.
CPR was performed on Malone and he was taken to Boston Medical Center were he had been in critical condition until he died around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The firefighter received assistance from a nearby powerboat filled with teens and told them to “get him to shore as fast as you can”.
The Boston resident had roles in movies like The Fighter and The Forger.
