Westbrook’s triple-double leads Thunder past Heat
Could Oklahoma City win the title?
-Kevin Durant sprained his big toe and only missed one game. To say next to nothing of the 14.8 rebounds, 14 assists, and almost four steals per game they combine for.
Thunder head coach Billy Donovan quickly called a timeout to try to stop the momentum, and it seemed to work. The duo combined for 17 of the Thunder’s 31 total assists on the night, working to get their teammates involved early before the open space on the floor allowed them to get going themselves. To OKC star Kevin Durant, this is the fault of the media, who apparently can’t be bothered with the team.
“Man, the [media and experts are] always trying to nitpick us”, Durant told ESPN.com’s Royce Young. He continued to say, “I mean, they don’t like us”. If I hated someone I wouldn’t talk to them. “We really used our length and size and I thought from a sustainability standpoint, we sustained tonight for a long period of time which was great to see”. They are the third team to reach 30 wins this season.
“We know he can get his points and assists, but when he rebounds with us like that, it makes it easier for everybody”, Durant said.
“Everybody’s passing the ball, everybody’s moving the ball around, making the extra pass and getting guys wide-open shots, wide-open dunks”, said Westbrook, who’s been limited to 37.1 percent shooting in his career against the Heat. In the lastest NBA All-Star voting, Durant (774,782 votes) is second in front court voting and G Russell Westbrook (609,901) is second among guards, which means they both would be in starting line up if voting ended today. Their opinions, everybody has one, but we don’t really care about them. “Every game we play good but it’s something that we’re not doing right or a mistake we made and we just have to fix it”. “We feel like we can compete with anybody”. Who amongst my lot would?
CITY (AP) – Russell Westbrook followed one of his most forgettable performances of the season with one of his most efficient. The question is whether or not they are in the same class as the Warriors, Spurs and Cavaliers.
The Thunder’s changes haven’t been jarring, and at times, they certainly can appear to be the same team they’ve been in the past. This is not a group we’re used to. It’s Warriors, Spurs and Cavs, and then everybody else. And presuming he and Scottie had never won a championship.
Oklahoma City will be off on Monday, but will be back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets.
With their Friday night win, the Thunder improved to 29 wins on the season.
Westbrook had his second consecutive triple-double to help the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Miami Heat 99-74 on Sunday. I actually do love you guys. You don’t have to watch nor listen to people like that, and they’re hardly representative of the media as a whole.
“The first six or seven minutes of that third quarter were clearly not at the level that was needed to grind out and make it a possession game going down the stretch”, he said. As in, “this season”, mind you.
