Western Michigan University students robbed on campus
A Western Michigan University student who claimed he was the victim of an armed robbery admitted it never happened. And then the student spilled the beans.
WMU Public Safety is reporting that two students have been accosted and robbed near the center of Campus, by the Flagpoles.
Merlo declined to say why the student made up the story, but noted he was intoxicated and may have fallen.
University Spokesperson Cheryl Roland says counselors have been made available on the WMU Campus for her friends and dorm mates.
The Kalamazoo Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1ZrryNp ) that the school issued an alert Sunday following the holdups.
The search continues for the five men accused of jumping and robbing another man on campus in the same area. The victim was told by one of the suspects that the group had a weapon.
