Westfields boss Frank Lowy has surgery after football fall
A-League: Frank Lowy has taken a nasty tumble off the stage during the Grand Final presentation.
Australian businessman and FFA chairman Frank Lowy AC has undergone surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain following his fall during the presentation at the A-League Grand Final in May.
Westfield Corporation reported a net loss of $871 million in the first half of the 2014 calendar year.
But the statement said that he had begun to feel unwell a few days before the surgery and an examination revealed that he had a subdural haematoma – something not uncommon after head trauma. Later that day, the FFA said Lowy had suffered no major injuries.
Billionaire Frank Lowy, the 84-year-old chair of Westfield and Scentre, has had brain surgery, a legacy of a fall in May.
Lowy, who is chairman of Westfield Corporation, Football Federation Australia and the Lowy Institute for global Policy, is expected to return to Australia after a short convalescence.
Lowy tumbled several feet off the stage at Melbourne’s Rectangular Stadium in May, just before he was about to present the A-League trophy to Melbourne Victory’s captain. “He has soreness in his shoulder from the fall, but is otherwise OK”.
