Westin Hotel in Waltham Among Credit Card Breach
Data stolen by the software could include customer names, credit card numbers, card security codes, and expiration dates.
Starwood Hotels could not be immediately reached for further comment.
The hotel company said Friday that malware had infected point-of-sales systems at 54 locations such as in-hotel restaurants and gift shops.
The other two Boston hotels were the Westin Boston Waterfront and Sheraton Boston Hotel. The breaches detected reportedly occurred between November of 2014 and mid-May of 2015.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. revealed today that a few of its payment systems had been hacked, but while a few payment details were compromised, it assured customers that the threat has now been eliminated.
Most of the other affected Starwood hotels are in the USA, including a St. Regis in Bal Harbour and the W South Beach in Florida. Starwood reported the problem had been fixed.
The hotel group is offering all affected customers extensive credit protection services, at no cost to customers, along with suggested steps should you find fraudulent transactions on your records as a result of this security breach.
Sergio Rivera, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts for the Americas, said in a statement “Protecting our customers’ information is critically important to Starwood and we take this issue extremely seriously”. The deal, which is expected to be completed in the middle of next year, would create the world’s largest hotelier by combining Starwood’s 1,275 properties with Marriott’s more than 4,300. Starwood said that customer addresses, reservation data, and reward card information were not exposed in the breach.
