Officials with the Multi-State Lottery Association raised the jackpot estimate from $450 million due to strong sales before Wednesday night’s drawing.

Tonight’s drawing for the jackpot would be the biggest victor since a $564.1 million jackpot was won February 11, 2015, according to the Powerball website.

While no ticket holder had all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing (5,6,15,29,42 and the Powerball number 10), more than 2 million ticket holders won smaller prizes totaling almost $21 million.

The chance of winning is one in more than 292 million.

It is not uncommon for regular players to buy 50 Powerball tickets. To compare, the odds of being struck by lightning is about one in 750,000, while the odds of getting canonized as a saint are about 20 million to one. Wednesday night, the fourth largest Powerball jackpot is up for grabs. Alternatively, one could also purchase almost 350,000 six-packs of Yuengling.

I’ve been in here when two people have bought $500 worth of tickets. “The retired people who come in, they want to retire again”.

Of course, everyone thinks they have the winning ticket.

The cash value of tonight’s prize is $306 million dollars.

“I usually don’t play Powerball, but when we all pitch in together, it’s kind of fun”, said Andrea Swanson, an employee at Creative Sign in De Pere. Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Powerball tickets for the drawing until 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
