What Can We Expect from Android Marshmallow?
They are apparently in beta testing, so you will need to reach out to your Google AdWords rep to gain access to it.
The new integration works nearly exactly like Google Now on Tap, the Android Marshmallow feature teased at this year’s I/O conference.
Android Marshmellow, confirmed to be Android 6.0 (versus 5.2), is sure to bring many big changes to the Android ecosystem.
(Google is implementing a similar feature with its Google Now on Tap feature it showed off at its developer conference earlier this year.).
Remember that Google Now on Tap update which Google previewed in May, and which is supposed to come with Marshmallow’s public release this fall?
If you don’t feel like waiting for Google Now on Tap to give contextually aware search a try, this Bing Search app looks like a nice way to give it a shot.
The app will read the contents of the screen you’re looking at and suggest relevant information or apps. Then they simply “long-press” the Android home button while in a third party app to generate a Bing overlay that offers enhanced information and relevant actions.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has bolstered its search engine Bing with a fresh application programming interface (API), which developers can use to receive Bing’s analytical prowess in their apps.
Microsoft says it’s launching the new feature first on Android and will soon bring it Windows 10 on desktop and mobile devices. Not anymore, if you have a device that is running a custom ROM that supports the Cyanogen Theme Engine, you can get the new bootloader for your device.
Bing sees this as part of the broader evolution of search, with contextual “answers” being delivered in-line rather than requiring users to leave an app for a separate “destination search” experience. Developers will soon be able to integrate Bing’s data from its knowledge and action graph into their own apps, allowing users to search for information without going to different apps.
