What if: Could Gary Johnson gain steam and play spoiler?
Clinton’s supporters are more confident in her chances than Trump supporters are of his; 84 percent of people who say they will vote for Clinton think she will win the debate, compared with 69 percent of Trump supporters who think he’ll be the victor.
The Libertarian Party candidate wants to get a spot in the presidential debates, and the final decision on who gets in will be made soon.
Maybe, according to Hanford resident Kenneth Olsen.
This has given them a better chance to reach the 15-percent polling threshold set to make presidential debates in autumn. Olsen welcomes anybody who wants to drop in and check it out.
This isn’t Olsen’s first political rodeo.
The Libertarians have so far pulled more support away from Clinton than from Trump, polls show.
According to factcheck.org, many kinds of weapons were grandfathered in and exempted from regulation under the law. That puts this year’s average a couple points higher than where it was at this point in 2012 – somewhere just above 5 percent.
Governor Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate for the White House stopped by Grandview University to make his case.
“That was my epiphany”, Olsen said.
But if we let them into the debates, all they would do is take away from the votes of the candidates that are likely to win, and that’s where our focus truly needs to be.
Last month, the Libertarian Party of OH asked the high court to allow their top-of-the-ticket contenders to be listed with their party’s name. “It’s nice to have a third person to have the opportunity to vote for”. “I feel like we could use more of that”.
Olsen said a lot of people are concerned about Clinton’s “lies” and “don’t feel they can trust her”. “I’m not saying he is, but that’s the way he comes off”.
Johnson supports abortion rights and marijuana legalization, advocates for a non-interventionist foreign policy and is opposed to religious freedom laws, believing them to be bigoted against gay Americans.
But Johnson has struggled to gain national traction.
The numbers among independents are basically the same in the latest poll as they were in the one before – 31 percent for Trump, 24 percent for Clinton, 18 percent for Johnson.
Johnson served as New Mexico’s governor for two terms.
“I hope the other two third-party or other-party candidates will see the wisdom in it”, McMullin said.
“It’s awful for both sides”, he said.
The Republican-led state legislature passed the tougher standards in 2013, as the GOP faced growing competition from the tea party. “There are too many people who won’t go along with that”. However, they are growing in numbers now that the election is getting closer and more and more people are becoming aware of Stein.
“Parties are sailing a big ship”, Perry said. I would encourage anybody who is libertarian or just disgusted at the prospect of a Trump or Clinton presidency to vote for Johnson. I would argue if you look at all of Johnson’s platform, it is pretty clear that he is committed to his party’s general philosophy.
Weld then adds an eye roll.
