What the Paris Attacks Will Mean for the Upcoming Climate Conference
But French security forces are understood to favour a blanket ban on public demonstrations around it.

The Paris attacks are affecting preparations for the climate change conference in the French capital, but leaders are still focussed on clinching a deal, a United Nations envoy said Friday.
Organizers have been hoping to create a festival-like atmosphere that aims to put pressure on world leaders to step up their actions and address climate change.
A coalition of activist groups including Avaaz, Greenpeace and 350.org said that they intend to “hold all the mobilizations now planned”, including a march set for November 29, the day before the conference begins.
The organizers of the civil disobedience actions on December 12 – dubbed the “climate games” – say they are “considering our options for mobilizations and actions in Paris” in the aftermath of the attacks.
The climate talks themselves will take place at a secured venue in the Le Bourget section of Paris, in the northeast suburbs near Charles De Gaulle airport, about five miles away from where most of the attacks took place last week.

On Tuesday, environmental groups will meet French authorities to make plans to move ahead of the conference. He’d often answer with a few variation of: climate change analysis is not part of the NEB mandate; this review is about pipelines not production; or, we lack the policy initiative from Parliament. “People will be marching in many places in the world, in Africa, in Italy, in other places”. Though a couple of “side” events (non-diplomatic parallel events) will also be curtailed or cancelled, the biggest casualty of the security concerns is the “Climate March” which is considered as one of the landmark event in support of climate justice. “We will stay afloat”.
“Our voices will not be silenced”, French campaigner Nicolas Haeringer with 350.org group said in a statement.
ES: For the moment we don’t know exactly what the limitations are.
Acknowledging the expertise of Pakistan’s Minister for Climate Change, Mr Zahid Hamid, who recently took oath, the French envoy said that Pakistan is one of the countries most affected by climate change.
