What Will Become of the Affordable Care Act?
Virginia Democrats greeted Friday afternoon’s abrupt cancellation of a long-promised GOP vote to repeal and replace Obamacare with renewed calls for compromise and more than a few I-told-you-so’s.
“Putting at risk the healthcare of millions of Americans just to score a political win was childish and irresponsible”. Moving forward, Democrats and Republicans must come together and do what is right for the American people.
The House Republicans’ American Health Care Act drew criticism from both sides.
“I’m excited. I think today was a great victory for Donald Trump as far as learning how to work with Congress”, said Lou Murray, a Boston-area financial planner who served on an advisory committee during Trump’s campaign.

Finally, American Health Care Act would interfere with the ability of patients to choose their preferred providers in the Medicaid program.
Rep. Mimi Walters, R-Irvine, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Voting is scheduled to start at 4:30pm today (March 24), and at this point the bill is widely expected to fail, in part because gutting essential health benefits has upset more moderate Republicans.
Welch says Republican leaders have discovered that it’s much easier to criticize the current Affordable Care Act than it is to replace it.
He couldn’t assure one constituent in particular – a Ridgway woman whose premium costs more than her mortgage – that the costs would be corralled, he said.
