WhatsApp’s desktop client now supports iOS
Using the chat service on the web requires running WhatsApp on a corresponding smartphone.
However, not everyone has the feature yet – as with many new WhatsApp features, it’s being switched on in stages to ensure it can effectively manage any teething problems.
The iPhone update was spotted by British Reddit user vmax77, although it appears that WhatsApp is gradually rolling out the update, with some users not able to access it yet.
WhatsApp Web connects to your iPhone to sync messages with your computer, allowing you to send and receive messages from your web browser and view conversations on both devices.
Remember, WhatsApp Web only works if your phone has an active internet connection. But in order to “login”, users must already have the mobile app installed on their device, open it, and scan a QR screen that is displayed in the desktop browser.
WhatsApp’s web client was originally launched in January 2015, but this is the first time it has been available for iPhones.
The desktop web app for WhatsApp now finally supports iOS, roughly seven month after it debuted on Chrome and Android.
