WhatsApp update will now allow users to quote messages in replies
WhatsApp for iOS’ latest beta release v2.16.7.1 is now doing the rounds for some users and apart from numerous bug fixes and improvements, it brings support for auto playing gif images.
The update now allows no scope for confusions, especially in a group chat where such confusions tend to be common about people not being sure who is being replied to when multiple people are a part of the conversation.
The feature will come handy at a time when you need to refer to an older message.
Quoted messages are a feature that allows users to select replies from a conversation and incorporate them into their own replies, with the option to add some more text to them. Additionally, the option panel will store star, delete, forward, and copy tag to accompany “reply”.
Any of the participants in the chat can get to the original message by tapping the quoted reply.
Android beta build (version 2.16.118) carries the feature. This could prove to very useful since it’ll be easier to distinguish messages in a crowded group. The “Quote and Reply” feature was previously available on security-oriented messaging app Telegram, which labels itself the world’s most secure messaging app. However, WhatsApp has recently worked to reduce the gap in security between the two apps, if any, by adding end-to-end encryption most importantly.
A version of WhatsApp now in beta testing lets you reply to specific messages in a chat. In case you don’t know, WhatsApp APK for Android is updated nearly everyday.
It also seems to work with media files like photos and videos where it will show up as a thumbnail preview which we guess helps to keep things neater.
