When to shop Black Friday vs. Cyber Monday deals

Amazon launched their Black Friday deals weeks ago by offering a slew of products including different models of Amazon Kindle and other goodies.

Thanksgiving Day is hard to imagine without the Black Friday. The deals on TVs and electricals are particularly popular amongst shoppers.

Research by consumer group Which? has found almost half of all products on sale last Black Friday were available cheaper either just before or after the event.

Still, far more than half (63%) of US consumers are annoyed or very annoyed when they see holiday merchandise in stores before Halloween, compared with 71% who said the same in 2014, the survey says.

For this year’s Black Friday, Target and Walmart, two of the biggest retailers, are offering an assortment of sales, discounts, and promos for their loyal customers.

“There’s nothing out there that I’m just going to die if I don’t get it on Black Friday”, says Lisa Robinson. That’s 8 percent more than skipped out on Thanksgiving shopping past year. Also, aimless browsing and Google does not get you the most deals.

Plenty of retailers, particularly high-end stores like Nordstrom or those like T.J. Maxx that offer discounts every day, never opened on Thanksgiving and have collected goodwill because of that.

Most Black Friday sale last for only 24 hours or some sell out within hours, if not minutes. Stores do unusual things with items of questionable quality and huge discounts, placed beside or near items you actually want. If you see something you like you should probably move quickly, as this is always limited stock by its very nature. Do not forget to also shop local (and yes local stores also have websites). Target is now offering free shipping until New Year’s Day. Check whether retailers will let you buy online and pick up later so you can miss the crowds.

It’s important to note that while some of Amazon’s TV deals are lacking specific retailers at the moment, the company promises low prices on select screens from LG, Sony and Samsung.
