Seeing as we know next to nothing about next year’s Episode VIII, Trevorrow is surprisingly open about what’s being planned for Episode IX, which doesn’t hit theaters until 2019.
After Colin Trevorrow explained how George Lucas will primarily be his main inspiration while working on Episode IX, the filmmaker then spoke about how driven and forthright Lucas must have been when trying to originally sell Star Wars.
“I’ve seen all of the theories and, you know, I have to practice how to answer these questions”, he began.
Star Wars Rebels Season 2 episodes return on January 20 and Entertainment Weekly just unveiled a brand new trailer revealing what’s in store. “I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy that he showed me”, Abraham told reporters.
The eighth movie is also expected to be more of Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Master who went into self-imposed exile after one of his Jedi, Kylo Ren, turns to the dark side.
The director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, appearing at TCA Tuesday to promote his TV show Roadies, talked about the lineage of the film’s mysterious heroine Rey (Daisy Ridley).

The director can not stop gushing about the success of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, and he is simply thrilled that the new characters they introduced are so well-received that people are probably going to dress up as them come Halloween. I don’t think your Disney overlords are going to tolerate your dropping these kind of hints in every interview you do.
Abrams also said that he was glad that he got to do a “Star Wars” movie and that it was an honor to work with the talented cast and crew.
What strikes us most when watching the 10-minute reel full of green screens and computer-generated spaceships, is just how many practical effects are revealed, where scenes were physically produced without any post-production gimmickry.
While fans missed the chance to see Maz in action, the description of the scene just makes the character even more enigmatic and, to be blunt, frustrating: was she using the Force?
