White House reacts to Palin: ‘Domestic violence is not a joke’
The gang on Morning Joe all felt very dirty this morning, as they reacted to Sarah Palin’s recent comment, where she blamed President Obama for her son’s arrest for alleged domestic violence.
‘PTSD is a serious subject and should not be politicized, ‘ Paul Rieckhoff, who founded the group Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, said on Twitter on Thursday.
A day later, Palin endorsed Donald Trump, and yesterday she hit the campaign trail – where she suggested President Obama bore some responsibility for Track Palin’s issues.
He tweeted: “We need more programs and less politics to battle PTSD”.
PTSD is described by PTSD.ne.gov as a psychiatric disorder that can occur when people experienced or witnessed life-threatening events such as military combat, natural disasters, terrorist incidents, serious accidents, or physical or sexual assault in adult or childhood.
“I hope this doesn’t become a portable chew toy in a political campaign”, he said.
The comments touched off a Twitter exchange with other military service members concerned about Palin’s remarks.
“So when my own son is going through what he goes through coming back, I can certainly relate with other families who kind of feel these ramifications of PTSD and some of the woundedness that our soldiers do return with”, she added.
Police documents cited that Track was handcuffed and arrested on Monday night, following a dispute with his girlfriend at the Wasilla home he shares with his parents.
The head of a New York City-based veteran’s organization weighed in after Sarah Palin said her son Track’s arrest on domestic violence charges this week was a result of PTSD and because of President Obama’s lack of “respect” for veterans, NBC News reported.
During a Donald Trump rally on Wednesday, Palin said, “My son, like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened”. The question, though, that comes from our own president where they have to look at him and wonder, ‘Do you know what we go through? Police said that “he committed a domestic violence assault on a female, interfered with her ability to report a crime of domestic violence, and possessed a firearm while intoxicated”, said CBS News.
