White House says Trump expected to pull US from Paris deal

The Axios website was first to report Trump’s decision was made, citing two sources with knowledge of the matter, while other media including CNN, CBS, ABC and Politico reported the White House was expected to announce a withdrawal once details of the process have been worked out.

China, India, Canada and the European Union have said they will stick by the deal, even if the USA pulls out.
News of Trump’s expected decision drew swift reaction from the United Nations.
In a press statement, leaders from the global climate advocacy group, 350.org, called upon Canada to step up its climate game as the USA falters, and on Americans to continue fighting for domestic climate action.
The US is now one of the largest emitters of carbon dioxide in the world.
Canada’s emissions amount to about 1.6 per cent of global greenhouse gases.
The frenzied chatter and speculation is on over whether President Trump will withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement this week. As of May 2017, 147 parties have ratified the agreement, out of 195 who signed onto the accord.
The agreement also established a $100 billion fund to help vulnerable countries deal with the effects of climate change. Trump has called climate change a hoax; Musk is a longtime clean-energy advocate who leads electric vehicle maker Tesla and solar energy provider SolarCity.
