White House: Trump to Address 2018 March for Life
Thousands of anti-abortion activists from around the US gathered in Washington Friday for the annual “March for Life” – fired up by the support of Donald Trump, who was slated to address the crowds via video link.
“Americans are more and more pro-life”, Trump said in a speech in the Rose Garden that was streamed live to the crowd on the National Mall.
During their tenure in office, President Ronald Reagan, President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush all addressed the march via telephone or a radio hookup from the Oval Office, with their remarks broadcast to the crowd.
Now, he’s apparently so pro-life that Vice President Mike Pence on Friday called him the “most pro-life president in American history”.
With a Republican-controlled Congress at his back on this issue, Trump is cementing his turnaround on abortion with a video address Friday to the annual March to Life.
Hartzler, along with other politicians who spoke to the Missouri pre-rally gathering, lauded Trump’s choice of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, the appointments of conservative judges in lower federal courts and the appointment of people from the anti-abortion movement to key administration posts, including top Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway.
Trump said Americans are more and more pro-life.
Organizers hope to recreate last year’s huge anti-Trump protests by hundreds of thousands of people who saw Trump as a foe of women’s rights and reproductive freedom.
Anti-abortion rights groups praised the move.
King told LifeSiteNews that if the Susan B. Anthony List, Family Research Council, and National Right to Life all supported the bill, it would be brought to the floor for a vote.
Sixty-three percent indicated they support a ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. A lot of times they don’t feel like they have a place in the pro-life movement. Unfortunately, the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision has robbed over 50 million innocent babies of their right to life since its ruling in 1973. Momentum is on the side of life and so is the Trump administration’. And I will say, our country is doing really well. And it’s not something that should be tied to the GOP or one religious institution.
Members of the Independent Presbyterian congregation as well as other area churches boarded a bus in the parking lot of Southside Baptist Thursday afternoon.
Throughout the first year of his presidency, Trump’s popularity and approval rating have hovered in 30s.
