Wednesday marked the second peaceful night in the St. Louis suburb after protests marking the anniversary of the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown earlier in the week turned violent.
“Their presence was both unnecessary and inflammatory”, he said, adding that police would work with county prosecutors to see if the men had broken any laws.

The lesson is coming from members of the Oath Keepers organization who showed up in the city Tuesday donning protective vests with handguns holstered on their belts and carrying those rifles with 30-round magazines that so frighten leftist gun grabbers, bed wetters and the social Marxist collectivists elites.
Another protestor, Mary Chandler, said the police failed to confront the Oath Keepers in the way they challenge some of the protesters in Ferguson.
Brown was killed by police officer Darren Wilson on August 9, 2014, and remembrance vigils on the anniversary Sunday were marred by unrest and gunfire. McGuire said approximately 23 arrests were made, though police were still confirming official totals. Police say a suspected gunman, who was shot by police, was not part of the protest rallies.
The violence set Ferguson on edge and had protest leaders anxious that tensions could escalate. Andrews says. “Right now we have a state of emergency in Ferguson declared by our county executive”, Andrews says. “There really was no need”, Patricia Barnes, a Democratic Committeewoman of the Township of Ferguson, told NBC News.
According to a Reuters report, the armed civilians described themselves as members of the pro-liberty Oath Keepers organization.

Missouri Rep. says Oath Keepers need to be “taken out”.
“Here, in a black neighborhood, we’re already living in a state of terror”, Ahmad said. “But you see white men with rifles come outside and the police are silent”, noted protest organizer Deray McKesson.
When asked why they were there, responses include references to past riots in the city and others claiming to know little to nothing about why protestors were congregating.
“I’m happy that we’re able to defend ourselves”, one Oath Keeper replied in footage from NBC station KSDK.
The St. Louis County Police Department said it would consult with the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorneys Office about the legalities of the issue. Missouri is an open-carry state.
According to the news network, the Oath Keepers’ arrival was met with anger and confusion.
The Southern Poverty Law Center describes the Oath Keepers as a “fiercely anti-government, militaristic group”.
