White Sox recall OF Trayce Thompson

260 with 13 home runs, 39 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases, earning himself a spot on the 2015 worldwide League All-Star team, as well as a chance to make his Major League debut at U.S. Cellular Field this evening.

Two days after his family broke the news via social media, Trayce Thompson answered questions about his promotion in front of his stall in the White Sox clubhouse.

Thompson is the son of former National Basketball Association player Mychal Thompson, who played 13 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers. That’s because Thompson survived the long and grueling road from high school to the White Sox 25-man roster, which started way back after his selection in the second round of the 2009 draft, and that kind of development cycle is largely unfamiliar to the franchise. As a matter of fact, Thompson’s 2011 season was instrumental in raising his prospect rank since he set new career highs in every offensive category besides triples.

With Thompson in the heart of the order, Winston-Salem posted the best regular season record in full-season Minor League Baseball in 2012 (87-51-1). Until that comes, Trayce will enjoy the moment and do his part to make a difference.

So Thompson made it, which is something very few White Sox prep prospects have been able to say.
