Who does SRK seek life advice from?
SRK has an elegance in his films, and Dear Zindagi has a lot of it.
Of heartbreaks and relationships Alia’s character would in the Gauri Shinde directorial will be seen dealing with a break-up. The film finally brings her to therapist Jug played by Shah Rukh Khan. Those insecurities lead her to deliberately hurt her boyfriends before they get a chance to hurt her. Carefree, happy-go-lucky, she is in and out of relationships, some unrequited, others unfulfilled. The film saw actor Sridevi return to the big screen. The concept of the movie is different and the projection of that is more interesting. Dear Zindagi collection was able to get their name in the first list of the top releases this week which is again a significant aspect. The film was all about Kaira and Jehangir.
The “gyan” (lessons) on parenting and the advice on how to look at our parents when we grow as adults sounds good in its philosophical term but somehow it fails to match the deep thought in the simplified execution. Well, that’s precisely what Bhatt is – a pataka with pizzazz and verve. Khan is effortlessly charming in his role, channeling his “Chak De” persona – a father figure who is silently rooting for his young charge as she negotiates rough waters. The Alia Bhatt breakdown will leave everyone with a lump in their throat for being shot beautifully and played brilliantly. “Dear Zindagi” is a colourful saga of love and life. And the result: the plot fails to keep pace with the characters who keep you hooked. A happy go lucky girl and a philosophic teacher she will find will give the movie and her life a new dimension.
Many of us have always felt that our parents have abandoned us in favour of work, better living conditions or younger siblings.
Did you watch Dear Zindagi?
For this and other reasons the film is inconsistent and intermittently lightweight.
Ali Zafar as a musician too looks every inch his part, strumming the guitar and belting out romantic numbers, but is nothing more than that.
Music By Amit Trivedi is okay. Cinematography by Laxman Utekar is simply superb.
The story of this film is really nice and surely attracts the audience.
Dear Zindagi then is a mixed bag. An established theatre artiste, Ira says that the Gauri Shinde film happened to her quite unexpectedly.
