Who’s Down is Google’s invite-only app for meeting up with friends
GoogleGoogle unexpectedly released a new app on Friday called Who’s Down. As you might be able to tell from its name, the app will apparently – once there are people who are actually using it – let you see which of your friends are free to hang out.
Who’s Down quickly gauges who’s available via a quick slide on the app. From there, you can add your suggestion, to which your friends can either take you up on or add you to their plans.
As you can see in the images below, the app’s main functionality seems to be a quick-to-access toggle switch, letting your friends know if you’re free.
And wait, you can also append a video of yourself – displayed upon the top right corner of the actual gameplay video – commenting upon the gameplay, pulling faces, illustrating walk-through or cheats, anything really, using your smartphone’s front camera. If you do try out this application, do let us know how was your experience? But until you receive an invite, it’s likely you’ll have to stick to a good old fashioned text message to set up your next “Netflix and chill” session.
Many questions still remain about this app; it’s unknown when (or if) Google will get rid of the invite-only requirement and where it’s pulling your list of friends from, though one presumes it’s from email or Google+ contacts. Android has lagged behind iOS in years past when it came to getting all the top titles to launch on Google’s platform.
