Whole Foods plans to fire 1500 workers
In a video released by Whole Foods in July, Robb and Mackey apologized for the unintentional pricing mistakes, which they said were caused by human error.
Kristina Bradford, a spokeswoman for Whole Foods Market’s Louisiana locations, confirmed the layoffs in an email the Arabella Station, Veterans, and Broad Street stores will have some employee job cuts.
The Austin, Texas-based operator of 422 stores was also stung this summer by a slew of negative publicity after it was caught by a New York City regulator overcharging consumers on packaged goods in nine Big Apple stores. A significant number of the affected employees can apply for new positions across company because it has nearly 2,000 new positions.
The cuts represent about 1.6-percent of its workforce, the company estimates.
Whole Foods shares slipped 9 cents to $31.01 in morning trading Monday.

Whole Foods is now trying to reach out to millennial shoppers by rolling out a more value-oriented version of its stores.
Industry analysts said the cuts are not shocking as Whole Foods tries to transition into “a much leaner organization”. “We believe this is very low for the food retail industry and allows us to better serve our customers”, the company said in a filing past year.
The company is also facing new legal action from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which has raised concerns over one of Whole Foods’ vendors. On the other hand, the stock price can be punished when a company repeatedly fails to meet or exceed what research firms are expecting.
The trendy food chain Whole Foods Market is downsizing it’s workforce.
Whole Foods shares have dropped 35 percent in 2015. It costs millions of dollars to open these new stores.
