Why are there so many Alvaro Morata doubters?
Ahead of the game, Antonio Conte has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
Conte stated: “Matic knows very well what I think about him – the importance for me about this player, who is a really good player, a top player, very important for our team”.
Dyche has acknowledged that his team’s chances are slightly improved by Chelsea’s current injury problems and transfer uncertainties, though says the Blues remain an incredible group of players. “If the club decides to send on loan players for their development it’s because these players are not ready to play for Chelsea”. My only task is to be focused on the pitch. “The first half pleased me because although Chelsea went to 10 men it was not easy”.
“The situation is clear”.
Brighton and Hove Albion – Although in my bottom three, I see this as a great opportunity for Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan as he’s going to be very busy. These are the most important things for us.
Chelsea earned the title of champions, but haven’t exactly waltzed into the start of this year’s campaign. The club knows my priorities.
Conte then praised the quality of the opposition for their opening fixture. Heaton saved Burnley a number of times last campaign, most notably against Man United at Old Trafford when he made a string of saves and kept the game at 0-0 nicking the draw.
“I am very happy because these players are working so hard”.
The build-up to the game had been marred by Conte’s visible frustration with his side’s transfer business over the summer, with Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger their main acquisitions so far. “He is a strong player with a good personality”.
Conte was an interested spectator the last time Chelsea landed the English top-flight crown in 2014-15, with a forgettable defence leading to the departure of Jose Mourinho.
Lampard concedes £58million summer signing Alvaro Morata has big boots to fill as the Spaniard replaces Costa but he is confident the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker has the tools to do the job.
The home side were back in the match in the 69th minute when Morata headed a Willian cross into the bottom corner to register his first goal for the club, although the champions still had a lot to do to turn the game around. It depends, Conte said, on their ability to deal with consistent pressure, the kind their manager seems to put naturally upon himself.
