Why Bernie Sanders Matches Up Better Against Donald Trump Than Hillary Clinton
Presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton responded to a question posed online by a college student from New Freedom.
In her concession speech after her Tuesday loss in New Hampshire, Clinton pledged to support strong campaign finance reforms.
The answer, perhaps, nobody knows.
Both the Clinton and Sanders campaigns targeted Minnesota in hopes of wresting as many delegates as possible out of the state’s March 1 caucus voting.
After winning New Hampshire’s Democratic primary this week, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is on track to keep giving Hillary Clinton a run for her money, including in states like IL – once thought to be in her corner.
At a later rally in Las Vegas, Sanders’ call for a new approach to the nation’s economy resonated with Nicole Reihl-Molloy, 37, of Las Vegas, who said that she and her husband struggled after the recession.
The race now moves to what should be more favorable ground for Clinton in Nevada and SC, states with more black and Hispanic voters, who, polls show, have been more supportive of Clinton so far.
“The kind of criticism that we’ve heard from Sen”.
Clinton invoked Obama or his administration 21 times during the debate and used the president, who remains popular with rank-and-file Democrats, as a shield to push back against Sanders’ critiques. Clinton ended the debate by criticizing Sanders for saying in an interview with MSNBC that Obama had failed the “presidential leadership test”. Sanders of Vermont spoke to a crowd of 18,000 people at the Colorado Convention Center.
Sanders called the comment a “low blow” and said that while he disagreed with Obama on occasion in the Senate, the President was a friend. “This blurb that you talk about…that the next president of the United States has got to be aggressive in bringing people into the political process. I never met him”, said Lewis, D-Georgia. “That is what I believe”.
“Hillary Clinton’s super PAC [political action committee], Priorities USA Action, will be spending at least half a million dollars in paid advertising in the South Carolina Democratic primary”, the release noted.
CBS said that all of the remaining major Republican candidates will be on stage for their next debate Saturday night in SC.
Still, many Black pundits have expressed disappointment over Sanders’ history of favoring a strictly class-based analysis over race, though pressure from activists associated with the Black Lives Matter movement has succeeded in shifting both his positions and rhetoric. Clinton, by contrast, has been down with the party since the 1970s, not to mention she’s the wife of the biggest (Democratic) party rock star of all, former president Bill Clinton. “Essentially, we are in this together”. In an October 2015 interview with MSNBC, he said that the president and vice president have done “a damn good job”, but that America needs a “course correction”.
“In my view, the government of a democratic society has a moral responsibility to play a vital role in making sure all our people have a decent standard of living”, Sanders said.
