WHY? “Cecil The Lion’s Killer” Halloween Costume Comes With Severed Lion Head
Now, you can bring up all those bad feelings again come Halloween with this truly horrific costume of Cecil the Lion’s killer from Costumeish.
The seller at Costumeish.com describes Palmer’s bow-and-arrow conquering of Cecil as the year’s “most controversial killing” while labeling his detractors as “an outraged mob”. And, oh boy, it’s gross.
The “Lion Killer Dentist Costume”, as it’s being described online, comes with a severed lion’s head mask, smock with fake blood splatter, bloody gloves, and dentist tools for “a gruesome, complete look”.
The company says 15 percent of proceeds will be donated to a wildlife foundation.
If some fearless soul decides to purchase this costume, they won’t feel totally guilty.
The costume retails for $59.99 on the website Costumeish, and CEO Johnathon Weeks said they made a decision to sell the costume after the company was flooded with requests.
“All Doctor Palmer wanted was to hang dead animals in his house, but what started as an obscure (if legally-dubious) hunting trip has since erupted into a brouhaha of trans-Atlantic proportions“, reads a description of the costume on the website.
A guide and a landowner who were with Palmer during the kill have been charged in Zimbabwe.
The lion befriended another male lion, Jericho, and together they grew and watched over two prides, one with three lionesses and seven cubs and another with three lionesses.
