Why Everyone is Talking About MVP, John Scott
The lowlight of that piece was that apparently someone from the league office who Scott chose not to name contacted him and said he would be embarrassing his children if he didn’t drop out of the All-Star game. You could tell he was enjoying every moment out there.
Pacific Division forward John Scott looks into the stands during the NHL hockey All-Star championship game against the Atlantic Division Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, in Nashville, Tenn.
You can just imagine a couple of clowns sitting around saying “Hey, let’s get John Scott voted into the All-Star game, that would be hilarious”. “You can’t put that into words”.
Scott’s MVP performance was a fitting ending to a day where the form chart, such as it is in any All-Star event, was flogged.
John Scott was previously asked by both NHL and Arizona Coyotes to bow out of NHL All-Star Game.
The NHL tried once more to spurn Scott’s fun on All Star Weekend by not including him in the final vote for All Star Game MVP. He also posed with teammates behind their $1 million check.
At the All-Star weekend’s skills competition, Scott took the ice alongside the NHL’s top players, including his fellow captains such as Jaromir Jagr and Patrick Kane (Alex Ovechkin did not attend).
“For what it’s worth, I think the fact that they had the big guy in there created excitement”, said Julien. “Yeah, nerve-wracking, especially [because] Burnzie is such a spaz”.
I know, I know, not gonna happen – folks might express displeasure for a little while but they’ll still spend massive amounts on games and gear and ensure that the National Hockey League remains ridiculously profitable. “But if you give (Scott) the puck, he’s going to put it in the net”.
The Scott story ended in a fashion that would be rejected by any Hollywood screen writer, as he won the fans’ write-in vote for Most Valuable Player decisively despite not being listed on the original ballot on the scoreboard. This time, these All-Stars combined for 116 shots and 23 goals. The players and coaches were smiling and laughing pretty much the entire time and it was good to see. “So it wouldn’t be a bad game to end off on, but I definitely think I can still bring something to the table and be beneficial for any team”.
Jonathan Quick and John Gibson posted the shutout in the final game and Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks had the only goal of the 20-minute three-on-three contest. The Pacific Division team won 9-6. Scott shined the light back on what it is like to be a role player in a league that is home to the best hockey players on the planet.
Soon after, Scott was traded to the Montreal Canadiens, who eventually sent him down to play for their AHL affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps.
Calgary’s Johnny Gaudreau and Mark Giordano were also on the winning Pacific team.
Scott’s two goals tied Hall, Daniel Sedin of Vancouver and Nashville forward James Neal for the most goals at this event.
“And he is kind of different, and people love it. He’s different the right way, the good way – It’s good for the fans, they were loving that”. Scott captained the Pacific to a 1-0 win over the Atlantic in the championship.
She said this has been overwhelming.
With his team up 4-3, Scott scored a breakaway goal on goalie Devan Dubnyk.
