Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is expected to discuss farmers’ issues including the Land bill that has led to a raging debate between the NDA and opposition, during his one-day visit to the state today.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has dragged the state police to the Madras high court complaining that they had not made sufficient security arrangements for Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi who is scheduled to address a public meeting in Trichy on Thursday.
“Gandhi, who generally does not get raging, literally blasted Tharoor”, an unnamed source told PTI, adding that the party chief was in no mood to listen to any explanation from Tharoor. Mr Tharoor had reportedly said yesterday he was not in favour of disrupting Parliament over the party’s demand for the resignation of three top BJP leaders. “We have taken action against our CMs”, he said.
“We will neither confirm nor deny the report”, said a well-placed Congress sour-ce on Wednesday.
Rajya Sabha was repeatedly adjourned on Tuesday after the Opposition created ruckus over Lalitgate even as Swaraj expressed her willingness to make a statement on the same. He had given three reasons for this.
Although he had said that “Tamil Nadu model was better than the Gujarat model” during that rally, it remains to be seen what political line he takes as the State Congress unit has been highly critical of the AIADMK regime.
Lack of coordination and “leaks” of closed-door meeting deliberations is spoiling Congress’ strategy in Parliament to check the Modi government and the BJP on the issues of scams, scandals and corruption.
This is not for the first time the Thiruvananthapuram MP has been caught on the wrong foot by the party.
