Why Is This College Student Holding A Stranger’s Hand On A Bus?
They also informed him that Robert suffers from cerebral palsy and is deaf.
(Today Show)-Imagine this: You’re on a busy bus in Ontario, Canada, and a stranger reaches out to hold your hand.
The photo was posted to the Facebook page “Only in Hamilton on Tuesday and has now spread across social media”.
Initially, Cuotto feared that he was being pranked, but soon realised Robert “just needed comfort”, he told Huffington Post Canada.
“I would liking to say thank you to the guy who was seating beside a special needs gentleman…”, reads the caption on the Only In Hamilton Facebook post. “It makes my day when I see stuff like that”.
The photo has been shared more than 40,000 times in a few days.
“Share the love. Put people’s needs above yours”. Cuotto agreed, but then something unusual happened.
Many have called Godfrey Cuotto’s gesture an act of kindness and tolerance, noting how rare it has become to hear of someone sensitive enough to care about people with disabilities.
‘He kept holding my hand, ‘ Mr Cuotto told the Huffington Post Canada.
The man also leaned on him, hugged him and and kissed his hands until the end of his ride.
“I thought, you know what, I’m just going to allow it. I’ll let him do his thing”.
Lorraine Packard commented: “Bravo to you young man!”
Others took to Twitter to praise Cuotto.
Later, on Facebook, a family member of Robert’s contacted Godfrey and thanked him for making the ride a bit easier for the man, who spent the entire 30 minutes next to Godfrey. “His mother should be his chief of staff!” another Facebook user, Stephen Snow, wrote.
