Why Kevin Durant-to-Warriors makes even more sense now
Kevin Durant doesn’t exactly sound like a guy that is seriously considering NY as a free agent destination. But after one of the worst NBA Finals breakdown following a record-setting regular season performance, the Warriors might be considering to sign Durant more than ever. That would be the Golden State Warriors, who would acquire the National Basketball Association version of the three dragons from Game of Thrones if they sign Kevin Durant this summer. While the Warriors have some other targets in mind, Durant will be their major focus when free agency starts on July 1, ESPN reported.
The Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are amongst the teams expected to secure a face-to-face meeting with Durant.
Kevin Durant is the hottest player in the 2016 free agent market with National Basketball Association rumors confirmed that he will listen to other teams’ offers this summer and will host them in his home in Los Angeles.
Durant would most assuredly make more money staying in OKC, which has the most cash to offer.
It also comes at a time when Warriors players have openly wondered whether Durant would in fact join the team. Durant might be hesitant to lock into a long-term deal in Oklahoma City with the possibility of Westbrook leaving. The biggest piece of Golden State’s starting lineup that could be playing elsewhere in 2016-2017 is strong forward Harrison Barnes, who is a due-to-be restricted free agent.
After losing the NBA Finals, Warriors owner Joe Lacob vowed his team would be aggressive in the offseason.
At the release of his KD9 sneakers, Durant discussed what will be one of the main factors of his free-agent decisions.
While rumors on Durant are swirling around, many observers believe that Durant will end up signing a two-year contract with the Thunder, the second year would be a player option.
