Why LeBron James removed the Cleveland Cavaliers from participating in
LeBron James had a typically stellar all-around game Saturday, as his Cleveland Cavaliers easily beat the Atlanta Hawks, 109-97.
“I think our guys just understand and know that it’s important for us to develop the habits and the attitude and the approach, make that part of us – like it was past year from midseason on”, Blatt said. “This is not how you, as a coach, design it. But I did like seeing the toughness that we had to reveal in the fourth quarter”.
James praised Blatt before their game against the Milwaukee Bucks, saying that the 56-year-old coach is at the same level as the best coaches in the league.
“I blew a gasket”. Budenholzer stepped out to the 3-point line on the court and and appeared to bump referee Ben Taylor, prompting the ejection.
“I didn’t get a lot, really”, Budenholzer said when asked if he was given an explanation for being tossed. “But if there was any contact, it would be totally unintentional and if there (was) contact, I’m sure that’s why he made the judgment call that he did”.
Kyle Korver and Paul Millsap each had 14 points the for Hawks, who fell to 9-6. Jabari Parker is slated to start as he rested on the second night of a back-to-back against Denver. “We got a huge boost from Andy”.
According to huffingtonpost.com, even Cavs big man Tristan Thompson agreed with James’ sentiment. Both guards had good moments getting into the lane, but they couldn’t generate enough open shots for their teammates.
Christian Wood scored 15 points and Nerlens Noel had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the 76ers, who lost their 19th in a row.
Already without guards Kyrie Irving (knee) and Iman Shumpert (wrist), the Cavs played the second half minus center Timofey Mozgov, who suffered a strained right shoulder and will likely undergo an MRI or X-ray today.
Dellavedova has done an excellent job starting for the injured Mo Williams for the second straight game.
None of that mattered.
James has maintained all season the injuries are no reason for the team not to play well. Thompson’s greatest contributions to the team don’t necessarily show up on stat sheet, they show up in the final score. Regardless of the outcome, the silver lining for the Atlanta Hawks is that Saturday’s game provides much needed experience for a team dealing with a few adversity during the early going of the regular season.
James’ turnaround jumper over Carmelo Anthony with 1:16 left gave the Cavs an 84-82 lead, their first of the second half. O.J. Mayo made his season debut, but only scored three points and his first basket didn’t come until the final quarter. Kent Bazemore will be out with a right ankle sprain, and Jeff Teague is questionable with a left ankle sprain.
To play with a sense of urgency is what Lebron is looking for from his team right now.
