Why LeBron James Should Be ‘Thrilled’ The Cavaliers Are Actually Resting Him
Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is reportedly unhappy with having been left out of the side for the defeat to former club Miami Heat on Saturday night.
The Cavaliers have been plotting for ways to rest James without missing much game time, but Blatt insisted the special circumstances of playing an overtime game Friday in a different time zone led to his decision.
The Cavs stormed back to take a late lead, with James scoring 21 of Cleveland’s last 24 points of regulation. Miami got the 97-95 victory over Oklahoma City and people within the city and around the nation noticed that this team was talented enough to make a run at a championship.
Looking to add more to the New Orleans Pelicans’ misery, the Cleveland Cavaliers travel to the Smoothie King Center in a cross conference match in the National Basketball Association. The Pelicans won 114-108 in overtime. Anthony Davis and LeBron James were the leading scorers for their teams.
In the third game since announcing his retirement plans earlier this week, Kobe Bryant scored 14 points on 4-for-19 shooting.
Wade said he was unaware James would not play until he was informed before the game. “Again, we’ll be monitoring and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how the best way to go through the season is with him”. James comes in after scoring 37 points in the loss against the Pelicans in overtime and he added eight assists and seven rebounds in the game.
“We’re not going to overanalyze it”, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said of Dragic’s improved play. “I liked our guys’ approach”.
If James noticed, he didn’t flinch from his seat on the sideline. J.R. Smith returned to his old stamping grounds and came out firing.
But, after he played 45 minutes in New Orleans late on Friday night, the Cavs opted to have him on their bench, not in uniform.
“I feel alright. I’m a little sore, but this was a back-to-back and it made it tougher”, Evans said.
In Dallas, James Harden scored 25 points after another rough shooting start against the Mavericks, and the Rockets pulled out a victory. Kevin Love averages 11.6 points while Timofey Mozgov averages 0.9 assists per game. That included a clinching jumper that hit the rim and backboard before bouncing on the rim a couple more times and going in for a four-point lead with 7 seconds left. Without James on the court, the Heat were able to get a quick lead easier and hold onto it throughout the night.
James has made it clear he wanted to play in all 82 games this season, something he has never done in his career. The limber big man from Kentucky has averaged as many points in his teams’ 15 losses (23.8) as he has in the team’s five wins.
The point guard, in his first full season with the Heat, said he is making the needed adjustments. Mo Williams is dishing 4.5 assists and Tristan Thompson is grabbing 10.3 rebounds.
