Why meeting Hugh Jackman is ‘sweeter the second time around’

This confirms that Mangold is perfectly content with the final product we all have seen in theaters this weekend and we won’t be seeing any other version of the movie -besides the rumored black and white version. It would also offer the franchise a fresh new way of approaching the X-Men storyline because this new generation wouldn’t have the guidance of Professor X. Instead, they’ll be following his lead based on X-Men comics.

“Logan” follows an aging Wolverine and Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart), as they navigate a near-future in which mutants are on the verge of being wiped out. Not yet, at least.

Sporting an unkempt gray beard, he drinks his days away on the Mexican border, picking up black market drugs to treat the dying Professor X, played for a seventh – and also final – time by acclaimed British thespian Patrick Stewart. One Twitter user asked whether a meeting between Charles Xavier and Deadpool was ever possible. I also love the fact that they respect and love their fans. “You lose ten pounds of water weight”. “Make it happen, Hugh”.

“No!” Stewart cuts him off, and the two start laughing, not saying any more on the matter. With the introduction of Laura (Dafne Keen)-a female mini-Wolverine-the film becomes even more visceral than it already was. Hugh Jackman is one of the big reasons why the X-Men franchise (I don’t count Deadpool) has earned $1.45 billion domestically and $3.6 billion worldwide from eight films.

With that in mind, did James Mangold and company write Jackman out by killing off Wolverine once and for all? Well, he didn’t end up in Logan, ultimately, but there was a plan in the works at one point to have him arrive for a few scenes towards the middle of the movie.

That’s too bad, because a Wolverine vs Deadpool crossover would have been epic in every way.

Wernick spoke enthusiastically, saying, “It would be fantastic to have Hugh resurrect Wolverine in the Deadpool universe, and again, Ryan’s making a hard push to make that happen, and hopefully the public gets behind it and we can all convince Hugh to put the claws on one more time”.
