Why Microsoft is pushing Windows 10 hard
Despite forecasting a rollout of the Windows 10 smartphone update in December several months ago, Microsoft now says the upgrade will take place next year on select devices.
This update was expected to bring the Windows 10 OS for popular phones which are now running the Windows 8.1 OS.
According to the Reddit user, the Windows 10 Mobile will be released in batches for different Lumia smartphones running on Windows Phone 8.1 OS. The tech company previously promised that it will begin to roll out the latest operating system to existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones in December, but now that isn’t the case.
Things will heat up in the coming months, and some users are already seeing that in form of new upgrade dialogs that show no “no thanks” option anymore but only options to upgrade to Windows 10.
Microsoft has delayed the Windows 10 Mobile Update for old Lumia phones to sometime in early 2016. The first batch includes Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 950, Lumia 1520, Lumia 930, Lumia 830 and Lumia 640 variants.
To be fair, Microsoft did manage to release the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, the first Windows 10 Mobile devices, this November.
Microsoft Lumia 550 has been launched in India for Rs 9,399 and the phone will go on sale starting December 23.
Akin to Android and iOS, Windows phone is trying for latest firmware update.
In their attempt to make Windows ever more tablet-like, Microsoft has also added a notifications feature in Windows 10. The device does happen to be impressive in its own right but the sad fact is that it is a device that runs on Windows 10.
Remember, Windows 10 for PCs was released in July.
OneDrive in Windows 8.1 had a handy space-saving feature called Placeholders. “We continue to use the feedback we get from Windows Insiders to improve the upgrade experience and this update has some improvements to that experience”, he said as he encouraged users to constantly check the Insider Hub for updates where they will start posting new announcements.
