Why Not Spend Halloween At World’s Largest Grave?
The two winners of an online competition will get to sleep in a “real bed”, and be treated to dinner, a private concert and breakfast.
This Halloween, two people will have the chance to experience a night to remember 20m below Paris in the city’s catacombs.
During the 18th century, remains from cemeteries were transferred to the tunnels because of public health concerns.
“Before bedtime, a storyteller will have you spellbound with fascinating tales from the catacombs, guaranteed to produce nightmares”.
It promises that you’ll “become the only living person ever to wake up in the Paris catacombs” although how they can guarantee that you’ll actually wake up is anyone’s guess.
There are those, however, who are less than thrilled at the prospect of a pair of Halloween spook-seekers bedding down for the night in what’s often billed as the “world’s largest grave”.
But there’s a trick to this treat. a few unhappy people are accusing Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo of “desecrating the catacombs,” according to French website Le Figaro. Why not scare yourself witless by spending a night in the Catacombs, the spooky skull-ridden tunnels that run under the streets of Paris?
Sources in the local town hall claim that the California-based company, whose European headquarters are based in Dublin, paid up to €350,000 in order to privatise the world-renowned tunnels for one night.
All you need to do is explain, before October 20, why you would be courageous enough to complete the overnight stay.
